Effect of String Fret Finger
What is the effect of placing your finger on a particular fret of a particular String?
Now you know the sound that each string makes when its plucked open(without placing) any finger on any fret.
But as we know that we have only 6 String on a guitar and we have 7 notes. Also the 1st and last Strings play the same note, only lower.
So the question is how do you play the other notes?
The answer is String Fret Finger.
You place your finger on a fret and pluck the String.
Which fret and finger depends note.
Since I am in my learning stages, I try to remember it this way, most of the times 1st finger plays the 1st Fret; 2nd plays 2nd Fret ; 3rd finger on 3rd Fret and 4th FInger on 4th Fret.
But dont make this a rule of the thumb. Its just for beginners not playing complex chords or higher notes.
So which fret plays which note?
As you move down each fret, you move one note ahead.
The figure below shows you how.
